Jurgen Klopp admits he was lucky not to be punished after screaming at official
Jurgen Klopp has admitted he was fortunate to avoid censure after he screeched in the face of Neil Swarbrick during Liverpool's 1-1 draw with Chelsea.
Liverpool's manager was captured on camera roaring at Swarbrick after Diego Costa had a penalty saved by Simon Mignolet late in the game, an incident which has led to Manchester United's Jose Mourinho claiming there are 'special rules' applied to him by match officials.
Mourinho was warned during United's 0-0 draw with Hull – who Liverpool face on Saturday – that he faced being sent to the stands, something that prompted the Portuguese to reference how Klopp's incident with Swarbrick had been dealt with 24 hours earlier.
Klopp revealed on Tuesday that he told Swarbrick 'You can never beat us!' and that the match official replied 'I like your passion!' but, at his regular weekly press conference, the German accepted the situation could have ended with him in trouble.
'I think it depends on the fourth official,' said Klopp. 'We all know what we can do. When I saw the picture (of him shouting at fourth official) afterwards it didn't look too nice but it was not as bad as it looked so that is why I said what happened.
